Museum and cabinet of curiosities (basic tour)

The Kynžvart chateau museum is one of the oldest private museums in the world. It was founded by chancellor Metternich. The collections were kept open and further expanded by his descendants.

Visitors can admire valuable Samurai armour, cold weapons and firearms and original executioner´s tools. There is a large chateau library with 24 000 books in three original rooms and some of those books have no comparison in the Czech Republic.

The unique heart of Metternich´s museum is a cabinet of curiosities. There are 1800 things and some of them have no comparison in the world. One of the most valuable exhibits in this museum are two Egyptian mummies - the older one of them is almost 3500 years old. (45 - 50 min.)
